Old Zion Lutheran Cemetery Near Green Isle

1K

The Old Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Green Isle, Minnesota, is the final resting place of generations of Boettchers, Rusks, Goebel, Bullerts, and other settlers.

The first burial took place here in 1866. Christian Carl Abraham was eight years old when he died in August of that year.

Marie E. Doring has the oldest birthdate in the cemetery. She was born in 1808 and was 74 years old when she died.

Burials here dwindled in the 1920s and 1930s as many members of the congregation chose to be buried in the cemetery at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The last burial took place in the cemetery in 1964 — Jacqueline A Bullert was only a year old when her parents laid her to rest.
