District 48 School Near Delano

1.4K

It really hurts to see this old schoolhouse so neglected 😟  The Franklin Township (Minnesota) District Number 48 school was built in 1871. The small clapboard school closed sometime in the 1960s during district consolidation with the nearby Delano school district. After closing, it was repurposed and used as the Franklin Township Hall.

The building was still in excellent condition when placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Since then, it appears to have been severely neglected. It’s still standing proud, however, not ready to give in just yet. Hopefully, someone can convince the owner to give it the TLC it desperately needs.
