The Carver County District Number 76 School was built in 1906 and opened for classes in the fall of 1907. For 50 years, the one-room school was more than just a place to learn. It was also a center for social activities like school plays and picnics for local families.
When enrollment declined in the 1960s, the district merged with the Watertown School District. Today, the old schoolhouse is used as a community center and town hall. Jayhawks fans will recognize the building from the cover of their 1992 album, “Hollywood Town Hall,” which was released 30 years ago this September.
